First-timer

I went from scratchy squeaky nastiness to, well, not sounding horrible for six weeks in and able to play a lot of songs.

Meet Jason 👋

What’s your name, where are you from, and when did you start learning violin?

I'm Jason. I live in North Idaho, in the United States. I was telling somebody about wanting to play the violin all my life, and just last month it was my birthday and they gave me a violin.

How did you get started with Trala?

I was looking for something that could help me learn violin on my own and stumbled across Trala, and I've been loving it. I had a lesson, I’ve gone through the coursework and I’ve been doing it for about six weeks. I went from scratchy squeaky nastiness to, well, not sounding horrible for six weeks in and able to play a lot of songs, so I'm having a lot of fun.

Why did you decide to learn violin?

I grew up in Kentucky, and there was music around town that had this country flair. The fiddle just came alive. I felt like that would be amazing if I could fiddle. That's what I thought when I was a kid, and it got me interested in the violin. That's kind of where I want to go—learning how to fiddle.

What are your goals for the violin?

My dream for the violin is just kind of simple. I want to be able to play music in a family setting or a church setting, just for the fun of playing. I want to learn how to fiddle and be able to improvise and play by ear.

Jason is a pastor from Idaho who’s been learning violin with Trala since 2021.
